US-headquartered Amazon and Spain based Iberdrola expanded their renewable energy partnership with 476 MW of new PPAs in Portugal and Spain, reaching five countries. Amazon secured 219 MW from Portugal’s Tâmega Wind Complex and 257 MW from Spanish solar and wind projects, generating 1,093 GWh annually. The Ciudad Rodrigo solar PV plant in Spain provided 212 MW, powering 150,000 homes. Iberdrola moved applications to AWS and planned a Virtual Desktop service. Their 2022 deal enhanced AI use for grid and wind farm operations. Amazon aimed for 100% renewable energy by 2040. Iberdrola remained Europe’s top PPA seller for the second year.
