Zelestra, a vertically integrated renewable energy company based in Madrid, Spain, has secured $282 million financing for its Aurora project in Tarapacá, Chile. The package was arranged with Natixis CIB, BNP Paribas, and includes VAT support from BCI. Aurora combines a 220 MW (DC) solar plant with 1 GWh of energy storage. It is among the largest battery storage projects in Latin America. Zelestra has developed a multi-technology solution to supply night-time solar energy to Abastible. The project is designed to generate 600 GWh of renewable electricity each year which is enough to power 200,000 households. Zelestra’s internal EPC division is managing construction, which is already underway.Prior to this, the company secured funding for a 237MW solar portfolio in Spain.
