Atlas Renewable Energy (ARE), a US-based renewable energy generation company, has announced the signing of a long-term PPA to develop the 128 MW  El Campano Solar Plant in Colombia. The project is located in the northern region of Colombia, and is the second solar asset of ARE to enter construction in Colombia, following the Shangri-La project. According to the announcement, the 128 MW facility is projected to be operational by the end of 2027. The PPA was signed with a Colombian energy trading company and supports electricity delivery to the national grid. ARE stated that the project is expected to generate approximately 245 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of more than 110,000 Colombian households. The company also stated that installation is expected to help prevent approximately 38,200 tons of COâ‚‚ emissions per year. The project was awarded at the 2024 Reliability Charge Auction and is described as supporting system reliability.
