Atlas Renewable Energy, a US-headquartered developer and operator of renewable power projects, has inaugurated the 201 MWp Shangri La solar plant in Ibagué, Tolima, marking its first operational asset in Colombia.  Atlas Renewable Energy said the project was designed to produce around 403.7 GWh each year, supplying electricity equivalent to the demand of more than 214,000 households and supporting Atlas Renewable Energy’s plan to expand its Colombian portfolio toward 1 GW. Atlas Renewable Energy stated that these construction activities has created over 2,149 jobs, with most roles filled locally and with increased participation from women across technical tasks. The company stated that the facility was developed under it's partnership with Colombia-based ISAGEN, which focuses on building and operating large-scale solar assets to strengthen long-term national power supply.
