Microsoft boosts renewable energy in Wisconsin

Microsoft is investing $3.3 billion in Southeast Wisconsin to establish an AI-powered economic hub. This includes constructing a state-of-the-art datacenter campus in Mount Pleasant by 2026, establishing an AI Co-Innovation Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and providing AI upskilling to over 100,000 Wisconsinites by 2030. Additionally, Microsoft is committed to environmental sustainability and affordable energy access. Microsoft has partnered with National Grid to develop a new 250 MW solar project in Wisconsin, operational by 2027. By then, Microsoft’s total contribution to the local grid will exceed 4,000 MW, powering over 3 million homes. Moreover, Microsoft and National Grid will jointly allocate $20 million to a community fund supporting under-resourced and pollution-affected communities.
