Evonik’s chemical production goes solar with Vattenfall

Vattenfall and Evonik signed 10-year Power Purchase Agreements for the supply of 120 GWh solar power annually from two Vattenfall solar parks in Schleswig-Holstein, starting in 2025. The solar parks, with a total capacity of 120 MW, aim to offset over 50,000 tons of CO2 yearly in the German electricity mix. Both companies anticipate the collaboration to enhance investment security, supply stability, and risk diversification. Evonik employs a balancing group management system to align electricity supply and demand for its chemical production, contributing to grid stability.
