Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, has successfully connected its 108 MW La Mata solar plant to the grid in La Gloria municipality, northeastern Colombia. This $80 million project aims to generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of over 106,000 households, significantly cutting annual CO2 emissions by more than 98,000 tonnes. The initiative has created 1,000 local jobs, contributing to Colombia’s energy transition. According to the company, Zelestra is Colombia’s largest independent non-conventional renewable energy producer, complementing the 144 MW La Unión project. Supported by private equity firm EQT, Zelestra utilizes diverse renewable technologies and remains committed to advancing sustainability and decarbonization efforts across Latin America.
