Bids invited for 18 MW PV plant in Zanzibar

The Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO) has issued a tender for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of an 18 MW Solar Plant in Makunduchi, Zanzibar, as part of the World Bank-funded ZESTA project. The contract includes a 12-month construction period, a 3-year O&M period, and a new grid connection. The tender, issued on December 16, 2024, requires a mandatory site visit on January 13, 2025, and bids must be submitted by January 31, 2025. Bidders must provide a $250,000 bid security and purchase the bidding document for $250 or TZS 600,000. The project, which includes a single-stage, two-envelope process under World Bank procurement rules. Bidders must comply with the World Bank’s procurement regulations, with provisions for training ZECO staff on plant operations and maintenance for independent future management.
