Nine of the top 12 manufacturers in Wood Mackenzie’s global PV module rankings were Chinese. The fifth and tenth positions were shared by two companies each due to close scores. The evaluation of over 30 manufacturers was based on nine criteria, including manufacturing experience, vertical integration, financial performance, and capacity utilization. Notably, eight of the 12 manufacturers are self-sufficient in cell capacity, and seven are projected to exceed 100 GW of module production capacity by 2027. Tongwei and Risen are fully vertically integrated from polysilicon to module. The combined wafer and cell capacity of the top 10 companies is expected to reach 830 GW within three years, enough to meet global demand twice over. Additionally, 10 of the 12 manufacturers achieved over 100% growth in the past four years, continuing to expand despite an oversupply.
