Voltalia unveils agrivoltaic PV farm in France

France-based Voltalia, has commissioned a new agrivoltaic demonstrator in Poisy, Haute-Savoie, France. This 250 kW installation, spanning 7,820 m² with 1,152 m² of solar panels, is designed to study the effects of solar panels on cattle farming. The project aims to assess how photovoltaic systems can enhance agricultural and energy production on the same land, focusing specifically on animal welfare, pasture quality, and cattle behavior. Voltalia is partnering with regional scientific institutes and agricultural experts to ensure the study’s success. This initiative is part of Voltalia’s goal to have 50% of its solar power plants operating on co-used or upgraded land by 2027, up from 39% in 2023.
