Voltalia, a France-based renewable energy company, through its subsidiary Helexia, has acquired 28 MW of agricultural photovoltaic hangars. Helexia has equipped 202 solar roofs on farm buildings, all under 20-year electricity sales contracts. Voltalia, through subsidiaries Helexia and Terravene, offers services tailored to the needs of farmers, focusing on combining solar energy with farming. Since 2021, projects like Cabanon1 combine solar electricity with crop production, utilizing dynamic shades to protect crops. By 2024, Voltalia developed the Poisy2 demonstrator to assess the impact of solar installations on cattle farming. Terravene supports young farmers with land-portage offers. Voltalia aims to expand its agricultural solar capacity to over 1 GW through 1,2,3 Soleil project, which unites the expertise of Voltalia, Helexia, and Terravene to address the sustainability needs of farmers.
