The World Bank Group, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar), and the Government of Uzbekistan have secured a financial package to develop a 250 MW solar plant with a 63 MW storage system in Alat district, Bukhara region. The plant aims to provide clean and reliable electricity to approximately 75,000 households, reducing over 327,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually by generating more than 585 GWh of renewable energy. This initiative is Central Asia’s first renewable energy project with an integrated BESS. The financing includes a $53 million loan from IFC and up to $106 million from the Asian Development Bank, Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank, and Japan International Cooperation Agency. The financing will support the construction and operation of the plant, expanding Uzbekistan’s renewable energy infrastructure.
