United Solar Holding Inc. has initiated construction of a USD 1.35 billion polysilicon factory in SOHAR, Oman. The fab is scheduled to become operational by 2025, and will be one of the world’s largest, with 100,000-ton annual capacity. This move marks a significant stride in solar panel production, semiconductor, and module manufacturing, bolstering Oman’s economy and industrialization efforts. The project aligns with SOHAR’s green energy agenda, aiming to reduce solar panel costs, attract global investments, and position SOHAR as a pivotal hub in global trade, fostering downstream industries and modern sectors. SOHAR’s strategic location, infrastructure, and trade advantages further enhance its appeal, supported by favorable trade agreements and competitive energy prices.
