Toledo Solar halts CdTe modules production

Ohio-based Toledo Solar Inc. has announced the cessation of all research and development activities and the winding down of its operations. According to Toledo, the failure to licensenecessary technology for Cadmium Telluride panel production forced a shift to an alternative business model. Despite these efforts, significant challenges persisted, leading to the decision to cease operations. Tom Pratt, hired in July 2023 for a turnaround effort, will oversee the decommissioning of the Perrysburg facility. The Toledo Solar Board determined that there was no viable path forward. The company was known for manufacturing advanced Cadmium Telluride solar modules for residential, commercial, and industrial markets.
