Tindo, Australia's only solar panel manufacturer, sees great potential in the Solar Sunshot program to boost the domestic renewables manufacturing sector. With AUD 1 billion in government investment, including grants and production incentives, the program aims to strengthen the solar supply chain. Currently operating a 150 MW capacity factory in Adelaide, Tindo plans to build an AUD 100 million gigafactory on the East Coast, targeting an annual production capacity of 1 GW of PV panels. The proposed gigafactory is expected to create 250 jobs and generate AUD 300 million in economic benefits. The company expects that the gigafactory could also attract further investment upstream, leveraging its scale and volume.
