The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a government-owned organization implementing renewable energy programs, has issued Amendment-02 to the Request for Selection under the ISTS-XXI initiative. The amendment was released for developing 1.2 GW of solar portfolio integrated with 600 MW / 3,600 MWh of ESS. According to SECI, the revised guidelines have clarified co-location and connectivity requirements for BESS and Hydro Pumped Storage Plants (PSP). BESS installations are required to be co-located with the PV assets, ensuring integrated operational control and grid efficiency. PSP-based systems, however, are permitted to be developed separately, provided they have independent ISTS connectivity and approved network access. Developers using standalone PSPs are required to obtain General Network Access and bear all transmission-related charges and losses. SECI has also permitted developers to procure up to 5% renewable energy from green markets for off-peak storage charging.
