Germany-based Sunmaxx PVT, global developer and producer of PVT systems was named a finalist for the smarter E AWARD 2025 in the Photovoltaics categoryfor its Sunmaxx PX-1 application. The system targeted fossil-free heating for buildings using limited roof space. It combined monocrystalline TopCon solar cells with flat plate collectors to support integration with heat pumps. The PX-1 module delivered 440 W electrical and 1,522 W thermal output. Weighing 29 kilograms, it remained close to standard PV modules. Installation used thermal plug-in connectors with a flexible hose. Heating costs ranged between 6 and 8 eurocents per kWh. Payback periods were estimated at 7 to 9 years.
