Zelestra, headquartered in Spain, and Shell Energy Europe have started operations at the 54 MW DC Cañada Alta PV plant in Murcia. The portfolio is financed by Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria for €35 million (~$36.4 million) and is set to generate 105 GWh annually under a 10-year PPA with Shell. The facility’s electricity will power over 23,000 homes per year and cut CO₂ emissions by 34,500 tons annually. Fernando López Miras, Murcia’s President, highlighted that Murcia's regulatory framework supports energy projects, facilitating investment in the sector. During construction, 160 workers were employed, boosting local economic activity. Shell has facilitated 3 GW of new renewable capacity in Spain through PPA. Zelestra has recently partnered with Avery Dennison to develop the Las Rozas solar plant in Spain. Zelestra operates eleven renewable plants in Spain and manages a project pipeline exceeding 5 GW.
