India-headquartered TP Solar Ltd, part of Tata Power, set up a 4.3 GW solar cell and module plant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. It was India’s largest solar manufacturing site in one location. The plant used TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies to make high-efficiency solar cells and modules. Initially, production would support Tata Power’s projects, with plans for broader market distribution. The facility aimed to generate local jobs, with 80% of the workforce being women. Tata Power also operated a solar manufacturing unit in Bengaluru, Karnataka, with a production capacity of 682 MW for modules and 530 MW for cells.
