Latin America’s first refinery-integrated Solar plant
Colombian President Gustavo Petro inaugurated Latin America’s first PV plant integrated into an oil refinery at Ecopetrol’s Cartagena Refinery. The 23 MW project, constructed by PowerChina and supplied with JA Solar modules (headquartered in China), represents a milestone in renewable energy integration. In 2023, JA Solar supplied 1.2 GW of modules for Brazil’s Cassiolândia and Paranaíba PV Power Stations, contributing to over 4 GW across Solatio projects. The company also powered Chile’s 480 MW CEME1 PV Power Station, operational since 2024 and accounting for 10% of Chile’s renewable energy capacity. Recognized in 2024 as a "Top Brand PV" by EUPD Research, JA Solar has strengthened its presence in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico, underscoring its leadership in Latin America’s renewable energy transition.
