Castillo Engineering, a Florida-based solar engineering firm, and Florida-based Northern Sun Energy have been contracted for three community solar projects in New York totaling 31.49 MW DC. Assigned by Seaboard Solar, the projects are located in Kinderhook, Wilton, and East Greenbush, following a prior 5 MW collaboration completed in Troy. According to Castillo Engineering, the Wilton and East Greenbush sites involved uneven terrain and extended distances to interconnection points, requiring tailored system designs. The firm implemented cost-effective solutions to meet strict voltage drop limits without increasing project costs. Castillo Engineering stated that these designs ensured full compliance while addressing site-specific technical constraints. Castillo Engineering is also designing a 13 MW landfill solar portfolio in the state.
