Arizona Public Service (APS), the state's electricity provider, has signed a PPA with US-based BrightNight and Canadian firm Cordelio Power. APS will receive clean energy from a hybrid solar and storage project, the Pioneer Clean Energy Center in Yuma County, Arizona. The facility will combine a 300 MW solar farm with a 1,200 MWh BESS system. This portfolio helps APS in meeting its growing electricity demand while also improving grid reliability. The project construction will begin in September 2025 and is expected to be operational by April 2027. The plant is anticipated to create economic benefits to Yuma County, new jobs and increased tax revenue. This project is part of BrightNight’s expanding hybrid renewable energy portfolio, including the 153 MW solar-wind project in Maharashtra.
