Huasun Energy, a China-based manufacturer of PV modules, has presented vertical heterojunction systems as land-efficient solutions for transport infrastructure projects. China’s Ministry of Transport has set a target of 5 GW of non-fossil capacity along transport corridors by 2027, together with full electric vehicle charging coverage in 11 provinces. According to Huasun Energy, its Kunlun heterojunction modules, rated up to 768.9 W (with almost 100% bifaciality) can be the a better suit for vertical mounting. Such installations are designed to reduce land usage, integrate with existing layouts, and align with transport-focused infrastructure developments. According to Huasun Energy, vertical arrays can shift generation toward morning and evening peaks, improving revenue opportunities under time-of-use tariffs. A Xinjiang assessment has shown that vertical PV systems achieved a 2.29% higher internal rate of return compared with tilted installations. Germany has already deployed nearly 100 MW of vertical PV, indicating broader international adoption of land-efficient solar applications beyond transport corridors.
