DAS Solar, a China-based manufacturer of photovoltaic cells and modules, is collaborating with the Martin Green PV Lab in Australia to develop Singlet Fission with Optical Splitter (SFOS) solar cell technology targeting 40% efficiency. The project builds on a research agreement signed in May 2023, according to DAS Solar. The company has stated that its TOPCon 5.0 cells, which deliver 746mV open-circuit voltage and 27% efficiency, are being used as the structural foundation for SFOS development. Researchers from the Martin Green PV Lab have visited DAS Solar’s Central Research Institute to evaluate its capabilities for industrial-scale SFOS production. DAS Solar has confirmed that stable singlet fission materials and specialized interlayers have been developed to support efficient charge transfer. The company has planned to start transferring SFOS solar cell technology to manufacturing lines by 2027.
