SunCable’s Australia-AsiaPowerLink (AAPowerLink) project received conditional approval from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA), affirming its technical and commercial viability. This approval enables SunCable to proceed with development, including partnerships in Indonesia and commercial discussions in Singapore. The project will deliver up to 1.75 GW of renewable energy to Singapore, fulfilling 15% of its power needs, and supply 4 GW to Darwin, Australia, for industrial use. Utilizing solar and wind resources in Australia’s Northern Territory, the project ensures a 24/7 energy supply. SunCable has invested over AUD250 million(~$16.6 million) so far, with a planned USD $2.5 billion investment in Indonesia to create 7,500 jobs. The project is projected to generate AUD $20 billion in economic value for the Northern Territory and significantly support Singapore’s Net Zero goals.
