Summit Ridge Energy has expanded its partnership with Qcells, agreeing to purchase an additional 800 MW of solar panels, increasing their total commitment to 2 GW. According to the company, this marks the largest domestic community solar purchase in history. Summit Ridge will develop over 100 new community solar projects, enough to power 200,000 homes and businesses. Most panels will be produced at Qcells’ new facility in Georgia, supported by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which provides tax incentives for domestic energy production. The partnership also includes battery storage and software solutions. The Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act, part of the IRA, supports this domestic supply chain, benefiting low-income households with clean energy savings.
