Global renewable energy producer Sonnedix has expanded its solar capacity in Italy by acquiring an 80 MW solar PV plant in Sicily from Blunova SpA, part of the Carlo Maresca Group. This acquisition is part of a broader deal for 250 MW of solar plants across Southern Italy, aimed at producing over 145,000 MWh annually. The energy generated from this 250 MW portfolio will supply 55,000 households and help cut over 50,000 tons of CO2 emissions. In addition to this, Sonnedix also plans to finalize the acquisition of six more plants by mid-2025, increasing its total capacity in Italy to about 800 MW. These projects are contracted under Italy’s GSE FER 1 auction, ensuring a guaranteed 20-year electricity price for Sonnedix’s customers.
