Canada-based SolarBank Corporation has announced plans to develop a 13.8 MW ground-mount solar power project, known as the Grandview project, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This project is part of a larger 24.8 MW (DC) community solar initiative. The proposed Grandview project will provide local residents, including renters and those without suitable rooftops, access to affordable solar energy without the need to install panels on their own properties. This aligns with Pennsylvania’s House Bill 1842, passed by the House in March 2024, which facilitates the development of community solar projects. SolarBank has secured a lease for the project site and will now proceed with permitting, interconnection, and financing. Community solar projects, like Grandview, feed clean energy directly into the local grid, allowing residents to benefit from reduced electricity bills. In addition to this, the company issued shares to certain directors and officers as part of its acquisition of Solar Flow-Through Funds Ltd.
