Canada-based SolarBank Corporation has announced its plan to develop a 2.9 MW (DC) ground-mount solar project, the Silver Springs Project, in Gainesville, New York. The site lease has been secured, and the interconnection study is underway. According to SolarBank, this project will expand its development pipeline in the region. Once the interconnection study is complete, the company will focus on obtaining permits and securing construction financing. As per SolarBank, the project is expected to qualify for incentives under the NYSERDA NY-Sun Program and will operate as a community solar project, providing clean energy to local residents. SolarBank claims this aligns with its goal of delivering affordable solar power to thousands of homes. However, the project faces risks, including approval delays, financing challenges, and potential policy changes.
