Singapore-headquartered Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, completed acceptance tests for the Manah II Solar Independent Power Project in Oman, achieving commercial operation over four months ahead of schedule. The 588 MW solar farm, Sembcorp’s first greenfield renewables project in the Middle East, operates under a 20-year 500 MW power purchase agreement with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company. The project aligns with Oman’s target of 30% renewable energy by 2030 and will impact Sembcorp’s earnings per share without significantly affecting net tangible assets for 2024.

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo directed intensified awareness campaigns across panchayats and the appointment of nodal officers to monitor progress. Plans include achieving 70 MW under the Capex model and 238 MW under the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company Model) mode via NHPC and JAKEDA. Financial aid is disbursed within 15 days of installation, with long-term savings expected, even for loan-takers.
