Scatec ASA secures 288 MW solar project under South Africa’s REIPPPP

Norwegian renewable energy firm Scatec ASA has emerged as the preferred bidder for a 288 MW PV project in South Africa. The projects will run under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement. South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources and Energy expects commercial close for REIPPPP Bid Window 7 in the second half of 2025. The project is part of the seventh round of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). Scatec will hold a 50.9% equity stake of the project and will oversee its engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), operations, maintenance, and asset management.
