Boitzenburger Land solar park powers Salzgitter’s green future

RWE Supply & Trading GmbH and the Salzgitter Group have signed a long-term PPA for up to 64 GWh of green electricity annually, beginning in 2027. This seven-year agreement will source power from the 180 MW Boitzenburger Land solar park in Brandenburg, Germany, operational since autumn 2023. The park is a joint venture between Solarenergie Boitzenburger Land GmbH, GP JOULE Group, and Mainova AG, which manages the electricity marketing through PPAs. According to Mainova AG, the PPA structure eliminates the need for a feed-in tariff under Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act. By 2025, Salzgitter plans for half of its electricity to come from non-fossil sources and targets 100% green electricity by 2030. RWE, headquartered in Germany, manages 700 MW of onshore wind and solar capacity.
