Reliance to build 500 MW PV project in Bhutan

India-based Reliance Group, has signed a strategic partnership with Bhutan’s Druk Holding and Investments Ltd. (DHI) to develop 1,270 MW of renewable energy projects, including a 500 MW solar power plant in Gelephu Mindfulness City and a 770 MW Chamkharchhu-1 hydroelectric project. The agreement, which represents the largest Indian foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bhutan’s green energy sector, aims to strengthen Bhutan’s renewable infrastructure and support its net-zero goals. The solar project will be completed in two phases of 250 MW each, while the hydropower project will enhance Bhutan’s current generation capacity of 2,452 MW.
