Recurrent Energy, a US-based subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., has secured three 20-year contracts with Arizona Public Service (APS) to boost Arizona’s renewable energy. According to Recurrent, these agreements cover two Maricopa County projects: the Desert Bloom Storage, a 600 MWh storage facility, and the 150 MW (AC) Papago Solar, both slated for construction in 2025 and operational by 2026. Recurrent also signed an agreement for Papago Storage, expected to become Arizona’s largest standalone storage site with a 1.2 GWh capacity. Together, these projects provide APS with 1.8 GWh storage and 150 MW (AC) of solar power, enough to support 72,000 homes for four hours and 24,000 homes annually with solar. Recurrent Energy currently has a portfolio comprising 11 GW of solar projects and 3.7 GWh of battery storage.
