Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., has received a Development Consent Order (DCO) from the UK’s Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero for the 350 MWp Mallard Pass Solar Farm. Co-developed with Windel Energy, Mallard Pass is located near Stamford, spanning South Kesteven, Lincolnshire, and Rutland, and will connect to the National Grid Ryhall 400 kV Substation. According to the company, the project will generate clean energy for 92,000 British homes, exemplifying Recurrent Energy’s commitment to ESG principles with a 72% net biodiversity gain. The development began in 2021, with the DCO application submitted in November 2022 and accepted in December 2022. The examination concluded in November 2023, leading to the Planning Inspectorate recommending the project in February 2024, and the Secretary of State granting consent in July 2024.
