Oman’s PWP initiates 280 MW Al Kamil Solar IPP process

Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) initiated the qualification process for Oman’s fourth solar IPP, the Al Kamil Solar IPP. The 280 MW project was in Al Kamil Wal Wafi, South Al Sharqiyah. It spanned 3.2 million square meters and had an estimated cost of OMR 85 million ($2.20 billion). The project was scheduled for commercial operation by Q4 2027. It was expected to generate 863 GWh annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 282,000 tonnes. As part of Oman’s Vision 2040 and net-zero goals, it aimed to advance the country’s renewable energy transition. Developers were required to submit qualifications by February 3, 2025.
