US-based PureSky Energy, a leading developer of community solar, announced the commercial operation of the Cotuit community solar farm. The 4.4 MW (DC) solar farm includes a 1.4 MW (DC) battery storage system and is in Sandwich, Massachusetts. The project features 11,172 high-efficiency panels, generating 5,720,305 kWh annually and reducing CO2 by 8.81 million lbs, equal to removing 951 cars from the road. It is expected to save customers $2,295,376 over 20 years. The land was donated to and leased from the Sandwich municipality, creating annual revenue. A neighboring municipality will purchase solar credits at reduced rates. The battery storage enhances grid resilience and helps prevent outages.
