Portugal-based EDP launched its first large-scale photovoltaic solar park pilot using automation technology in Peñaflor, Valladolid, Spain. Named AutoPV, the project used Hyperflex automation technology from Comau to automate 3 MW of the total 122 MW installed capacity. The goal is to enhance construction efficiency by reducing the assembly time of solar panel structures by up to 50%. The technology utilizes a mobile factory with robotic solutions to automate unloading, assembly, and placement tasks, improving speed and safety. The pilot aimed to create an efficient model for global solar projects, combining human expertise with technological precision.
