The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), a Washington D.C.-based trade group for the US solar and storage industry, has released a detailed policy agenda. The agenda is focused on strengthening grid reliability by modernizing transmission networks, reforming interconnection processes, and scaling long-duration storage to meet increasing energy demand. SEIA has linked this rising demand to artificial intelligence, expanding data centers, and the growth of new technology hubs across the US. Abigail Ross Hopper, President and CEO of SEIA, said that solar and storage were already the majority of new US generation capacity. She added that accelerating deployment was necessary to maintain both reliability and affordability in the power sector. The agenda has also emphasized recognition of distributed energy resources, expansion of domestic supply chains, development of virtual power plants, and reforms in wholesale electricity markets. Prior to this, SEIA had urged US Senators to clarify tax guidance, refine supply chain rules, and review excise taxes affecting solar growth.
