The Solar Energy Industries Association, a US-based trade body representing 1,200 companies and 280,000 solar workers, has urged Senate action on critical energy policy. In a letter to US Senators dated June 30, 2025, SEIA opposed the proposed excise tax on solar projects, warning it would raise energy costs and weaken US solar competitiveness. SEIA supported reforms to the foreign entity of concern compliance rules, citing risks to the solar supply chain and domestic production. SEIA also called for reinstating the “commence construction” standard for energy tax credits to provide investment certainty for developers. SEIA said that removing this standard could jeopardize billions in solar investment, delay projects, and threaten energy affordability and national security. Earlier this year, SEIA and Wood Mackenzie reported that the US installed 10.8GW of solar and 8.6GW of manufacturing while cautioning against policy and trade-related risks.
