On 7 August 2025, the Trump Administration has terminated $62.5 million in Solar for All funding for Connecticut under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, headquartered in Hartford, was to use the grant to assist about 12,000 low-income households. These households, including those in Hartford and Portland, were projected to have annual electricity bills reduced by 20% under the national Solar for All program. The program has a $7 billion budget and was expected to generate 200,000 jobs across the United States through similar solar projects. US Representative John B. Larson has said the funding cut will raise electricity costs and weaken the state’s power grid resilience. Larson has expressed support for Governor Ned Lamont and Attorney General William Tong, who are pursuing legal action to reverse the federal decision.
