Germany–based renewable energy company PNE AG has finalized the sale of a 240 MW photovoltaic project to South African energy company NOA Group Ltd. The project, named Khauta, is situated in South Africa’s Free State province, known for its strong mining and agricultural sectors. Scheduled for completion by mid-2024, the project will receive ongoing support from PNE AG subsidiary WKN Windcurrent. There is potential for future expansion of the project’s size. PNE AG has been active in South Africa since 2010 and currently has several wind and PV projects under development, totaling approximately 4 GW/GWp as of the end of 2023. Additionally, the company is engaged in two green hydrogen projects within the region.
