Sunrun and PG&E’s partnership delivered 32 MW from 8,500 solar-plus-storage residential systems, consistently providing clean energy to California’s grid. The Energy Efficiency Summer Reliability Program, Peak Power Rewards, operated as a fully operationalized residential solar and storage distributed power plant. Achieving maximum enrollment, it supplied an average of 27 MW during evening peak hours for over 90 consecutive days, peaking at nearly 32 MW. Sunrun efficiently managed the fleet, emulating a traditional power plant but operational within six months. Peak Power Rewards seamlessly discharged home batteries to the grid, benefiting PG&E, Sunrun, and customers. Participants received $750 upfront payment and a free smart thermostat.
