Lightsource bp powers LyondellBasell with solar energy
LyondellBasell signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Lightsource bp in Spain, securing 149 MW of renewable electricity.
This deal will provide 284,000 MWh of solar power annually, equivalent to powering 78,000 European homes, starting in 2026.
The company aims to develop over 1 GW of PV projects in Spain and this project will help LyondellBasell reach 78% of its renewable energy goal.
Schneider Electric advised LyondellBasell on the transaction.
1KOMMA5° chooses TOPCon solar technology for new fab
1KOMMA5° to set up 1 GW solar module fab based on TOPCon technology in Germany by 2024. Fab is to be located in Brandenburg or Saxony and will be scaled up to 5 GW by 2030. Company aims to convert 500,000 buildings/year to climate-neutral power generation, heat, and mobility. 1KOMMA5° raises some million Euro funding from venture capital firm 2150 for its Heartbeat development.
Meta Platforms Invests in Irish Solar Power
Highfield Solar secures a 276 MW solar PPA with Meta Platforms in Ireland. Meta will use power from two operational solar farms in Meath and Wexford to power its data center. Meta invests €180 million in solar PPA, aligning with its renewable energy goals. Ireland aims to grow its solar PV capacity to 5 GW by 2025 and 8 GW by 2030.
LONGi renames Hi-MO 6 as ‘Hi-MO X6’
LONGi, is rebranding its distributed product Hi-MO 6, as ‘Hi-MO X6’. The average efficiency of the new module series is give as 23.3%. Hi-MO X6 is slated to be launched in China on October 8, 2023. The new module HPBC+ cell technology with an efficiency of 25.8%, a 0.3% upgrade.
