Origami Solar’s steel solar module frames pass third-party testing

Origami Solar has announced that its steel module frames have passed industry-standard tests, supporting module maker certifications like IEC 61215 and IEC 61701. The steel frames met the static mechanical load standards for IEC certification and showed higher test-to-failure pressure values compared to aluminum frames. RETC’s salt mist corrosion testing confirmed the excellent performance of zinc-aluminum-magnesium coatings on the steel frames, passing the rigorous IEC 61701 Method Six. The tests demonstrate minimal risk for module certification when switching to steel frames, potentially addressing issues with module strength and improving PV plant reliability.
