In an important EU Joint Industry Project, Oceans of Energy and 15 European partners are launching offshore solar technology scaled to 150 MW, setting a standard for Gigawatt-scale farms within wind farms. The initiative enhances sea space utilization, boosts energy output, and reduces costs for green electricity. Oceans of Energy is constructing the first offshore solar farm within the Shell/Eneco Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm. Coordinated by RINA, the collaboration addresses challenges in offshore solar deployment, focusing on technology robustness, environmental impact, and sustainability across the value chain. Project BAMBOO aims to mature technologies, paving the way for a 100-200 MW offshore solar farm by the end of the decade.
