In partnership with a NextEra Energy Resources subsidiary, Phillips 66 is developing a 30.2 MW solar facility for its Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex in California. The site will host over 70,000 PV panels across 88 acres. According to Phillips 66, it will generate 60 GWh of electricity annually. This reduces the complex’s grid power demand by 50%. The project aims to cut 33,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions every year. Operations are expected to commence in Q1 2025. It is among the largest on-site solar facilities in the US, says Phillips 66. The construction phase has created 130 local union jobs. The Rodeo complex produces renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel. Feedstocks include used cooking oil, fats, greases, and vegetable oils.
