Brookfield Asset Management, Brookfield Renewable, and Microsoft have inked a global renewable energy framework agreement. This move aligns with Microsoft’s target of achieving 100% electricity consumption from zero carbon sources by 2030. The collaboration has already secured nearly 1 GW of renewable capacity. The deal foresees Brookfield delivering over 10.5 GW of new renewable energy between 2026 and 2030 across the US and Europe. Moreover, it opens avenues for expanding renewable energy capacity in regions like Asia-Pacific, India, and Latin America. Microsoft gains access to a stream of new renewable energy, vital for meeting the growing cloud service demands. According to Brookfield, this landmark agreement, eight times larger than any corporate PPA before it, signals a significant leap towards global renewable energy adoption.
