US-based Marin Clean Energy (MCE) has launched an innovative all-electric clean energy home initiative in Richmond, California, targeting first-time, lower-income buyers. The Richmond Advanced Energy Community Project showcases the accessibility of clean, all-electric technology for buyers of varying income levels. The initiative benefits from a $5 million grant from the California Energy Commission and up to $2.8 million in match funding from partners such as the City of Richmond, CalEPA, and MCE. This project, which features homes rebuilt by RCF Connects through a social impact bond, is supported by the ZNE Alliance. The goal is to enhance grid reliability and address low-income housing needs. Additionally, MCE’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) provides participants with monthly credits for using clean energy technologies.
