Maxeon Solar Technologies has achieved a module aperture efficiency measurement of 24.9% for its Maxeon 7 panel, as confirmed by testing conducted at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). This extends the company’s lead in champion module efficiency, building on previous NREL testing results from 2023. Their back-contact (IBC) panels, marketed under the SunPower brand outside of the U.S., are now IEC-certified for impact resistance from hail of up to 45mm diameter. Maxeon 7 panels feature an IBC architecture with a patented design to mitigate hotspot risk from cell cracking and heat buildup under shaded conditions. This design is intended to ensure reliability and power output, with the panels supported by the company’s 40-year warranty.
